Whoa Turkey

I did it. I cooked a 15lbs turkey by myself. The night before I had to put the thing in the brine and that was gross, it took a glass of wine before I'd actually touch the thing- and I was wearing rubber gloves.
Then I had to remove, rinse and baste in teh morning. Also crazy. But those silly turkey bags are awesome! It cuts cook time in half!
So it was very successful and very yummy (and I don't even like Turkey). So that was a relief. Now we have tons of leftovers, i mean, tons. we're going to be eating potatos, stuffing and breads forever.
Other than that, nothing exciting has happened. The family left on Friday and that was super sad, lots of tears, but I do get to see them in 4 weeks. So that is good.
So enjoy my "freaked-out-by-turkey" photo!
Hope you all had a great time with the families!

I hope everyone was alright
but seriously. . . this was the most bizarre thing I've seen in a while. I wish my sick fascination had been able to snap a camera phone picture. I was tempted to walk back, but figured that would be TOO insensitive. Here's my MS Paint rendition.

And So the Thrill Begins
So, this whole planning a vacation from opposite sides of the country is frustrating for all and often not so easy with our very different schedules and time zones. I know for all it's been a bit of an up and down over the past few weeks, BUT buying my plane ticket today was soooooo freakin' exciting. I know that sounds weird, but now I know it's going to happen! and so that makes me excited. My school's being awesome with me leaving a bit early and whatnot. So i'm so excited. not that I wasn't before, but now it's not just a thought, it's real! So buy your tickets to chicago, it's so exciting.
